It\u2019s been an exciting experience of combining data mining techniques with generative AI to build scalable content with true utility for users.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So, it\u2019s been somewhat strange to watch the world at large catch up, with the advent of ChatGPT. Although there have been new tools and innovations emerging at a rapid clip, organizations are still trying to wrap their heads around how to use generative AI as teams.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Many companies come to us asking for our insight to sift through hundreds of tools they should be using and how they can leverage the tech for their websites and content marketing efforts. And, while it\u2019s exciting to see how eager they are to get in the game, it\u2019s the wrong question.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What they should really be asking about is, how to build workflows and governance models around generative AI tools and how to bake them into their existing toolkits.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In other words, they should be asking, &#8220;how do we build a content strategy for generative AI?&#8221;<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is true of all organizations, but especially true of the enterprise brands that we work with. Big brands tend to move slow. Introducing generative AI into these companies requires vetting and significant organizational change so they are slow to adopt new tools. To some degree, the space is moving too quickly for enterprise brands to keep pace. In fact, this is reflected in our forthcoming study on generative AI content with MarketMuse. Although ChatGPT is ubiquitous, people are primarily using it at the individual level and not as part of a strategy governed by their company. Granted, many people are doing a great job of using it as a force multiplier being left to their own devices, but, true scale comes from organizational alignment and integration.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8e51655 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"8e51655\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">The Generative AI Hand-Wringing is Over<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-74f2902 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"74f2902\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With generative AI being viable out of the box for the web since GPT-3, there was a lingering question in the SEO space of whether Google would penalize the content output. Potential losses had far-reaching implications across content marketing as a whole since content created for the web is often done expecting that Organic Search will be a primary traffic driver.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Just prior to the launch of ChatGPT, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ipullrank.com\/ai-content-not-seo-threat\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I talked about the difficulty of detection of generative AI content<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. With the advent of ChatGPT and the array of generative AI tools that have sprung forth from Google\u2019s technologies, their position on \u201cmachine-generated\u201d content has since changed and we are now off to the content arms races. Your core strategy should guide everything an organization does with its content, from the topics covered to its distribution channels. It answers questions like:<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What is it that you are looking to accomplish with content?<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Who are you trying to reach?<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What do you want them to do?<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Are there specific formats we should limit ourselves to?<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Understanding the core strategy is essential to creating a successful content strategy. It ensures that all of your content is aligned with your brand&#8217;s voice and mission, and that it is designed to resonate with your target audience. Without a clear core strategy, your content may lack direction and fail to deliver the results you are looking for.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In marketing, this is often where brands fail because of so many conflicting needs across the business. Those requirements are then shared as early as your content briefing stage and are incorporated into how content is modeled within your CMS or the channel where it lives.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-407558a elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"407558a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Content Workflows <\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7de309b elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"7de309b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Workflows are all about the processes related to content. Not just the creation of it, but the ideation, production, promotion, and maintenance associated with it. For organizations, process is everything and clearly defining them is how successful content systems are built. Questions answered at this stage are:<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Who is responsible for creating the content?<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What is the content creation process?<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What tools and technologies are needed to support the content workflow?<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How will the content be measured and optimized over time?\u00a0<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Having a streamlined workflow in place ensures that all stakeholders involved in the process know what&#8217;s expected of them and can work together efficiently.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-781c63d elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"781c63d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Content Governance<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-89ae2bd elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"89ae2bd\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although closely related to workflows, content governance refers to the policies and procedures that govern content in an organization.
