Reddit skews young. It skews male. It skews progressive. People who were appending Reddit to their searches could not get to the content they were looking for via Google.\u00a0<\/p><p class=\"p3\">Another narrative had been plaguing Google since the previous year. With a <span class=\"s3\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2024\/03\/20\/reddit-prices-ipo-at-34-per-share-sources-say.html\">$6.5B valuation<\/a> of the company<\/span>, there\u2019s a lot of money at stake.<\/p><p class=\"p3\">So what does Reddit do? Google had implemented the feature with the intention of surfacing more social media takes from YouTube and TikTok, in addition to Reddit, Quora and other forums. I spoke a bit about the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=RVW2Vwxv3Qo\"><span class=\"s1\">implications of ranking perspectives for incredibly subjective topics<\/span><\/a> and how it didn\u2019t seem like a sustainable choice in the long run.<\/p><p class=\"p1\">That said, there are still instances of Perspectives that will show up in the search results in the form of the carousels and other filter bubbles.<\/p><p class=\"p1\">This is another mechanism that fuels Reddit\u2019s visibility.<\/p><p class=\"p1\">But ultimately, it\u2019s hard to ignore the 7 major updates
