While this might\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lightbulbmoment.info\/2018\/11\/03\/65-percent-of-people-are-visual-learners-is-lazy-journalism\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">not be entirel<\/a>y true, it is true that not everyone is willing to read a 10,000-word article on the benefits of eating more grapefruit. Instagram, Facebook, and Tik Tok just accelerated digital changes that were already underway. And, let\u2019s be honest, through the lens of Social Media visual Content Marketing just got more exciting.\u00a0<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>\u201cIt only takes about 1\/4 second for the human brain to process and attach meaning to a symbol. By comparison, it takes us an average of 6 seconds to read 20-25 words\u201d<\/em><br><\/p>\n<cite><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.researchgate.net\/publication\/14567385_Speed_of_Processing_in_the_Human_Visual_System\">Thorpe, S., Fize, D. &amp; Marlot, C. (1996)<\/a>&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/em><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>This is not new, or it shouldn\u2019t be.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cInspired by Iceland\u201d, a brand\/campaign was launched after a volcanic eruption in the country. Suddenly, one of the most important sectors in Iceland\u2019s industry was compromised. Instead of writing to international newspapers and magazines and talking about how great it feels to travel to a place with \u201cIce\u201d in its name, they created an extremely visual campaign to promote Iceland abroad.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"626\" height=\"337\" src=\"https:\/\/ipullrank.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/0.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9658\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ipullrank.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/0.jpeg 626w, https:\/\/ipullrank.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/0-300x162.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 626px) 100vw, 626px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/20563513\">Inspired By Iceland Campaign<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Inspired by Iceland was launched 10 years ago. It won Cannes and Effies, is now considered a great case study in digital content marketing, and, more importantly, added millions to the economy. And the reason behind it all is Visual Content Marketing (besides, of course, a massive adherence from the population).&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What are the main benefits of using visual components in marketing campaigns?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Reason 1 &#8211; Visual Content is a Proof of Your Statement <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>I don\u2019t hold a grudge against stock photos, I have used them, and they\u2019re there. They\u2019re great. You don\u2019t really need to read Saussure and Peirce to understand the message behind those signs. You see, Visual Content Marketing is not the image that accompanies a message. It is the message.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Reason 2 &#8211; Visual Content increases website traffic and backlinks <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Ok, let me first start by being extremely honest here. Your website will not suddenly acquire backlinks and get traffic just because you have created extremely visual content. But the odds of having people share a piece of content that is not only informative but also extremely engaging is way higher. 25% higher, to be precise:<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cInfographics appear to be ideal for link building. They receive an average of 25.8% more referring domain links than how-to posts and videos\u201d <\/p>\n<cite><a href=\"https:\/\/backlinko.com\/content-study\">Brian Dean @Backlinko<\/a><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>iPullRank\u2019s own Fajr Muhammad\u2019s excellent <a href=\"https:\/\/ipullrank.com\/how-to-know-if-your-content-is-useful\">How To Know If Your Content Is Useful<\/a> post made me think a lot about the importance of purpose when it comes to content creation. And if every piece of content has its purpose, the visual side is there to strengthen the potential of the written one.\u00a0\u00a0<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Reason 3 &#8211; Visual Content Marketing helps people understand your message&nbsp; &nbsp;<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>There are many reasons why content matters. Some content marketers will show you a list with three, or five reasons. Someone at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/ajagrawal\/2016\/02\/08\/10-reasons-why-content-matters\/#7ed5649c7182\">Forbes decided that 10<\/a> was a solid number. It really depends on what you want to achieve. If you ask me personally, I\u2019ll tell you it\u2019s because you have a message, and you want someone else to hear and understand it.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This brings me to cooking websites. You might have noticed that websites with recipes are pretty unique. As a content strategist who enjoys cooking, I can say that Martha Stewart is my hero (Martha, if you\u2019re reading this, please send me a shout-out!). In the above search for \u201ccool sneakers,\u201d the first results (after the ads, because welcome to 2020) are informative and contain more than a single image.\u00a0<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>GIFs<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ipullrank.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/unnamed-1.gif\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9648\" width=\"351\" height=\"335\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>When you only have a couple of seconds to get someone\u2019s attention, making your email or social media post pop goes a long way. There\u2019s where gifs come in. But remember to understand the purpose of your moving picture, otherwise, you\u2019ll only be sending an email that takes longer than usual to load.\u00a0<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Memes<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">This what happens when you tell your team you want to start repurposing your old content <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/UBrajUdoEa\">pic.twitter.com\/UBrajUdoEa<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Mic King (@iPullRank) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/iPullRank\/status\/1232031106888871937?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 24, 2020<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Memes are an easy way to create a connection between you and your audience. They are fun and meant to be shared (it\u2019s an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wired.co.uk\/article\/richard-dawkins-memes\">evolutionary thing<\/a>). The only downsides? There\u2019s a need for great timing \u2014 and you should better check for legal implications before using someone else\u2019s creation.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Videos<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s a misconception that video marketing is supposed to be an easily digestible form of communication. Yes, they can be. But that would never explain \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=55G8p2N35PU\">Blocked Drain 464\u201d (WARNING: Graphic Content!), a 34-minute<\/a> long video where \u201ca Man and his rat clear blocked drains together\u201d. Truth is, don\u2019t worry about how long or how polished your video is. When they accompany a blog post, they can provide a compelling visual component. But they can also be a fantastic medium to share on social media and even gain backlinks when shared or used on other sites and blog posts.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Gifographics<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>By no means are infographics falling out of style, but with video becoming more and more attractive to users, gifographics are becoming more popular.
